Transmission Fluid Leak in Singapore: Red Oil Under the Car
Bright red oil (ATF) stains on the floor after the car has been parked for a while.
Common causes
These are the usual reasons for this symptom in an automatic gearbox. More than one can be involved, which is why we diagnose before quoting.
- Worn or leaking gearbox seals
- A leaking transmission pan gasket
- Damaged transmission cooler lines
- Loose or damaged drain or fill plugs
What to do now
- Don’t just keep topping up: find and fix the leak
- Watch for slipping or harsh shifts, signs the fluid is already low
- Book a check before low fluid overheats the gearbox
Why it pays to check early
An automatic gearbox rarely fixes itself. A fault that starts as a sensor, a solenoid or low fluid can, if the car keeps being driven, wear the clutches and other internal parts, and a simple repair can turn into a full overhaul. Finding the cause early usually means a smaller, cheaper fix, which is why we diagnose first and quote before any work starts.
